Dundee star Aaron Donnelly explained his bizarre decision not to celebrate after scoring against Celtic last night…
The Irish defender scored the third goal for the hosts as Dundee and Celtic played out a dramatic six goal thriller at Dens Park; however, he was criticised on social media for not celebrating his goal for Tony Docherty’s side.

The youngster, on loan from Middlesbrough, explained that it was a shock to him to find the net against his boyhood club.
“I was taken aback by what actually happened because there was a bit of a scuffle before and the referee pulled me and my marker (Auston Trusty) aside. Once it went in, I really didn’t know what to do!”
🗣️ “Losing that late goal, obviously gutted, but we’ve got to take all the positives”

Donnelly is a Celtic supporter
Previously Donnelly had confessed his love for Celtic and confessed to supporting the Scottish Champions growing up. Although, he’s never played for the club, the player likely did not want to disrespect the Celtic support by wildly celebrating the goal.
In the aftermath of the goal, Brendan appeared to be captured on camera making his thoughts clear on the defending in an extremely explicit manner.

After the game, Rodgers admitted that Trusty should have coped better at the corner given his stature – almost confirming what people had speculated he said on camera.
Trusty has got to do better – Rodgers

“He’s got to deal with that better. You’ve got to stay on your feet. It’s as simple as that. He knows that. He understands that. That’s what I’m saying. Across certain areas, we went a bit soft.”
Trusty will be disappointed with his showing in Tayside but will be eager to get back onto the pitch at the weekend and put it behind him.
Scales set for return?

It will be interesting to see if Trusty pays the price on Saturday for his awful showing against Dundee with Liam Scales being preferred to start against Kilmarnock in the Scottish Cup.

We need a centre back to play with CCV
We have one! Liam Scales has been outstanding with very few blips.
Bringing in Trusty was in my opinion, not an upgrade by any means!
During the long spells when we were withouth CCV, Liam Scales held that defence solidly together. He is the better of the two options. I’m not a believer in this “play the one who cost us the most money” as seems to be the case here!
Scales had a nightmare in the derby game on January 2 and was immediately dropped. There is absolutely no reason why Trusty should not suffer the same fate aftet his last two outings.
The added bonus with Scales is while Taylor is out of position, Scales is also more adept at covering him. Yesterday, Taylor was given the runaround up that touchline, and when Trusty tried to protect him, he was a total fish out of water!
Get Scales back where he belongs, and get behind him the way he deserves, the way he has earned!
This stupidity from many fans, “ he can’t be top notch if we didn’t spend millions on him” is the biggest load of garbage I’ve heard!
Get Scales back!
Did anybody show up against the huns, so scales made mistakes, but no way he would have been outmusled for their third goal. crusty at fault for two goals.
