Something has gone horribly wrong at our football club

Celtic shooting themselves in the foot is nothing new this season and if nothing else they have been patheticly consistent, this time on the eve of the first Glasgow Derby of the New Year – one that their managerial appointment Wilfried Nancy has to win to survive – news comes out that the ban on the Green Brigade is to continue.

Today’s media conference with the Celtic manager would have been attended by The Celtic Star as we were on Celtic’s rota which was issued last summer. The subsequent ban for asking seven simple questions actually did us a favour as we didn’t have to sit through Wilfried getting his last word in early.

Meanwhile North Curve Celtic posted the Celtic Board’s bad news that the ban on Green Brigade and other supporters caught in the cross-fire will continue. As of yesterday the old not proven verdict is now no more in Scottish courts and to get a conviction a two thirds majority is going to be needed. Five young Celtic fans have been charged with minor offences and will remain innocent until proven guilty but Celtic have decided that they must admit their guilt in advance to be allowed to use the season tickets that they have paid for.

And aside from the five who have been charged hundreds more have been collectively punished by the Celtic Board for no conceivable justification other than spite. A bit like their ban on the Celtic fan media, which is thriving despite their petty behaviour.

Something has gone horribly wrong at our football club.

Here’s what the North Curve posted this afternoon, confirming that the Green Brigade will NOT be allowed back into Celtic Park until their incredible and outrageous demands are met.

“Tomorrow’s home derby will be the second in a row that the Green Brigade has been prevented from attending.

“Far from condemning the actions of Police Scotland for the unlawful six-hour kettling of fans on March 16, 2025, Celtic FC has instead colluded with them over recent months to target the Green Brigade culminating in an indefinite ban from all Celtic matches.”

“Through this period, we have repeatedly sought dialogue with the Club. Their current position is that they are unable to engage with us while we do not accept allegations made against our group.

“To be clear, this relates to the incident at the Celtic v Falkirk match whereby Celtic FC made vexatious and clumsy allegations against our group. Accusations of serious and violent assaults were made purely and cynically to influence public opinion and support criminal charges against fans.

“Unfortunately, five people have since been charged – although none for serious or violent assaults. Celtic FC’s language has softened in relation to the incident.

“We believe all five will be vindicated in time but until then they, and their families by extension, must endure the criminal justice system – from dawn raids to multiple court appearances and everything this entails.

“Celtic FC’s demand that we admit to allegations which we strongly contest is not a sincere or serious position to take. It suggests that they do not want to achieve a solution nor explore any constructive steps to one.

“It is also another cynical attempt to prejudice live legal proceedings against fans. This is against a backdrop of spurious and sinister press stories of threats and intimidation to ‘blade wielding’ fans which they tellingly let pass without comment.

“The treatment of the Green Brigade is one of many examples of the Celtic board’s contempt for fans. It is also another mark of incompetence, wilfully damaging the atmosphere and environment around the club by preventing a vocal element of the fan base from attending crucial matches.

“Until there are meaningful changes at senior level within Celtic FC, we have little confidence that the concerns of supporters will ever be treated as a genuine priority.”

Our board just want to destroy our club,”  Celtic Gossip.

Back your fellow Celtic supporters. Give these board members hell tomorrow,” Paul

“Celtic are a joke right now,” Rachel Lynch

“Celtic will allow opposition ultras in the ground, sectarian chants will be clearly heard, & our board will say NOTHING. However they’ll ban our own fans & attempt to criminalise them, & ban fans that are not GB members, that just happen to sit in that section. A farce,” BillyBhoy.

The only thing guaranteed tomorrow is that we’ll be listening to the Billy Boys for 2 hours, and our team will be at a tactical disadvantage from minute 1. The stadium has been a morgue in recent weeks. Whatever the hell is going on, sort this out please,” Kevin McGuire.

Increasing the away support whilst simultaneously collectively banning a multitude of innocent and uninvolved fans says it all. Another nail in the Celtic boards metaphorical coffin. Tomorrow will be another dreadful atmosphere,” PB.

“Fact there will be more hatred aimed at the directors seats tomorrow than the away section gives a good indication of how the fans feel. If we lose again then Nicholson & Co should get the treatment they deserve. Banning our own ultras but welcoming theirs should be final straw,” MG.

“Ironic that Celtic have locked out a section of their support but they will allow in thousands tomorrow, who will sing about Catholics being killed. Wild times,” Joe Fae Glasga.

“Tomorrow has the potential to be one of the worst atmospheres in the clubs history. We really could be listening to them for two hours if the game doesn’t go our way…” Lewis.

“Agree 100% with the GB on this. The board don’t want to end the ban and therefore have deliberately created a deadlock. This IS to the detriment of the atmosphere and ultimately the team, sabotaging our chances at every turn. Perhaps scared of a full stadium tifo against them?” Kat.

That’s just a small selection of what Celtic supporters are thinking about the ban on the Green Brigade and the world class job Michael Nicholson is doing it taking our club downwards fast.

  1. You really can’t see what has gone so horribly wrong?
The moronic childish so-called, “Celtic” supporters who have been spoiled for the past twenty years, actually think they know how to better run the club than the best board in Britain!
Worse than this, clowns like the so-called “journalists” who enable these idiots by giving them publicity and pages the way you do are complicit!
THIS is what is so horribly wrong! YOU LOT OF IDIOTS ARE!
You don’t share a single brain cell among you!
You are hell bent and determined to send OUR CLUB INTO THE MIRE like the now extinct rangers!

    • What a servile bootlicker, “embarrassed the hoops” was made for you. You represent everything that is wrong, likely couldn’t find celtic park.

    • Dear Joe, (dermot) you are a moron! Or should I say whatever Ai organisation you stand for!
I think it is blatantly obvious what has gone wrong at the club… (maybe not to a moron like you)

Businessmen who think they know more about football than they know about a game they’ve never played in a community they’ve never known !

Anyway enough of the name calling, whatever Hun organisation, or paper you are associated with, maybe the SUN, or DAILY RANGER, sounds like the sort of pish they would fling out!!

    • Balloon Heid Boyd on

I see you call yourself Joe !
I’m guessing, from the amount of shite you have just spouted,it’s short for Joeby !
Away and throw shite(or yourself) at the moon, you bootlicking tosser !

  2. You definitely don’t sound intelligent Joe.
You have made statements here which cannot be backed up.
If only you were able to rationalise, but alas, you cannot.
Name calling is a sure sign.

  3. The arrogance of the Board is matched by the arrogance of Mr Fancy.
Neither understand that the current squad are not equipped to play the system he favours.
BR left again because the Board thought they knew better him re player transfers.
    Long runs the fox.
“Now is the winter of our discontent.”
    Rangers are a poor team.
    Hope springs eternal.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
    Hail Hail.

  4. Martin Blackshaw on

Joe, your real name wouldn’t be Michael Nicholson by any chance? Or maybe it’s a pseudonym for Dermot Desmond? There’s no way any rational Celtic fan could have written the comment you posted. I mean, seriously! Gerragrip Joe!

  5. Hail Hail! Joe. The sheep with no mind will always follow the blind. Mon the Hoops mate as a true supporter and not as a mindless collective.

  6. And the fact that Hearts, Motherwell and Hibs etc are forging is a great thing for the league. Do you want to be compared to the women’s hockey league when everyone and their grandfather knows the final is between Canada and the USA?
    Idiots. Competition makes everyone stronger.
