‘Something has happened, it has just clicked again,’ Scotty Sinclair

SCOTTY SINCLAIR reckons that James Forrest is practically unplayable at the moment and is in the form of his life. Accordingly the Englishman has some advice for Scotland boss Alex McLeish – if you want a match winner then Forrest is the man to turn to.

Sinclair, as an outsider looking in, finds it surprising that the Celtic right winger hasn’t been able to earn a starting spot in the the recent Scotland teams. But he does understand that if given the go-ahead for the must win games against Albania and Israel, then Scotland have a better chance than would otherwise have been the case.

“James is brilliant. He’s so quick with his feet and when he beats that first man they’re not catching him,” Sinclair said.

“He’s so quick, he can just drive past him and get a good cross in.

“He was brilliant against Leipzig and he’s heading to Scotland in good form.

“Even at international level he takes some stopping.

“To be honest I don’t think there are many defences anywhere that can stop him when he’s at full pelt.”

Certainly not the Albanians or the Israeli defenders…and if you need a goal, how many has Forrest scored in recent weeks, 7?

Sinclair is also much happier with his own lot since returning to the starting line-up himself. He’s scored a few goals and looks like his confidence is back after a sticky spell for the man who won the Player of the Year in his first season at Celtic and was our top goalscorer last season.

“Myself, KT and Ryan have been linking up well in the last couple of games,” he noted.

“It’s great for that left side to have that. I played a one-two with KT last week, played it into Ryan and he squared it for Odsonne Edouard – straight after kick-off as well.

“The relationship we’ve built up, myself and Ryan with KT in there too, it’s really beginning to work well.

“When you are playing every week and scoring goals, everything’s flowing. I want to get back to that. KT’s a clever player and has fitted in with the
combinations we’re putting together. It feels very good.”

The win over RB Leipzig not only lit up Celtic Park but also lit up our season. It was a very special night in Paradise and an experienced player like Scotty Sinclair understand the significance of such a match.

“It was great to beat Leipzig in such an enjoyable game. What a night! It was just great to send the fans home happy, giving them something to cheer about.

“Something has happened and it has just clicked again,” he said to the media yesterday.

“Everyone knows the quality in this team. We’re back-to-back Treble winners.

“The pressure is on us but when we play our normal game, people can see the quality we still have in this team.

“We’re playing with a bit of freedom. That goes for everyone. And once you get back-to-back wins and start playing in a really free manner, it gives everyone that confidence to kick on in every game we play.”
