Celtic’s captain took the more philosophical view on our 2-1 victory over Kilmarnock in Scottish Cup, revealing that sometimes in football games like that one can just happen…

The Bhoys should have been high and dry by the half-time whistle in Paradise but allowed Derek McInnes’ team to go in level through some terrible misses in front of goal.
Kyogo had a couple of good chances
Kyogo had a couple of chances, whilst Reo Hatate and Nicolas Kühn also spurned good opportunities to put the Ayrshire club to the sword early doors. Celtic would go on to rue those chances missed during that early onslaught, as Bobby Wales managed to nab a goal for his side before the break, leaving the Hoops support, manager and players scratching their heads’.

Daizen got the winner
It took a Daizen Maeda strike later on in the match to separate the two sides and in spite of more attempts on the Killie goal in the second period, it finished 2-1 until Nick Walsh blew to send us into the Fifth Round of the Scottish Cup. Premier Sports caught up with McGregor and goalscorer Maeda after the match and Callum admitted we should have been far more comfortable. “The job is to be in the next round of the hat, and we’ve done that today,” he said.
“There was some unbelievable football at times, I can’t believe it’s only 2-1. We created so many chances, and on another day, it could’ve been so comfortable for us. So, a wee bit of work to do on the finishing, but the guys have been superb all season. The main thing is our name’s in the hat for the next round.

‘Sometimes you just get games like that’
The Celtic captain added: “It’s always a tough game, a little bit of man-to-man stuff, so you’ve got to open the pitch and get running. But the game should’ve been more comfortable than it was. The finishing level from the boys has been unbelievable all season, but especially in cup games. If you can make the game more comfortable for yourself early on, we should probably have been 3 or 4 up in the first 25 minutes. Sometimes you just get games like that.”
