Atletico Madrid are continuing to scout Josip Juranovic as they eye a move for the Croatian Internationalist. The Celtic right-back is currently at the World Cup in Qatar as he looks to aid his nation towards glory with Brazil in the Quarter Finals up next.
According to The Sun, Madrid isn’t the only La Liga side with Real Sociedad also in the hunt for the former Legia Warsaw side. The report says that any move would be £10m plus, which is probably a lower estimate given the length of the player’s contract.
Juranovic has three-and-a-half years on his deal at Celtic. This is a strong position to negotiate from as the club will look to maximise any fee that they receive for the defender.
Juranovic has played every minute at the World Cup and had a number of strong showings in the Champions League for Celtic. It seems inevitable that the player will move on in the next two windows as he looks to take the next step in his career, following the £2m move from the Polish club eighteen months ago.
Celtic have already signed Ally Johnston. The Canadian full-back joins for an undisclosed fee, believed to be £3m, and he is earmarked as Juranovic’s replacement. The 24-year-old will join up with the Scottish Champions in January but there is a chance that Juranovic will likely be subject to more transfer speculation before then.
Morning Gossip: The queue of clubs linked with Josip Juranovic gets longer. So far we have Man Unt, Atletico Madrid, West Ham & now today Real Sociedad. Sad to see him go but a move worth £15m+ would be excellent business. Next up for the Bhoys are Ligue 1 club Rennes on Sat. HH pic.twitter.com/7fCrA8B2mJ
