“Special atmosphere and credit to the supporters. They made it absolutely first-class,” Celtic Captain

Celtic captain Callum ‘Calmask’ McGregor this evening has an exclusive interview on Celtic TV ahead of tomorrow afternoon’s crucial match at Fir Park for the cinch Premiership league leaders. A win against Motherwell will increase Celtic’s advantage to four point ahead of the game at Ibrox where theRangers – who came back from the winter break six points clear – face Hearts.

Calmac reflected on the Glasgow Derby win and looked ahead to the challenge tomorrow and reported that his injury continues to improve, enjoying the references to his face covering the other night as the CALMASK.

“First and foremost, it was a great result,” Callum McGregor told Celtic TV. “The players were absolutely first-class. They thrived off the atmosphere and the supporters were first-class as well, which made for a brilliant night.

“We just take the confidence from that and move on to the weekend. The fans set the tone. You could just feel the atmosphere building for a couple of days before the game. We knew it was going to be a special atmosphere and credit to the supporters. They made it absolutely first-class and then it’s down to the players to deliver within that environment and have the personality to go and play, and have the quality, which we absolutely did, especially in the first half.

“We had a great result the other night and we’re determined to keep that going. That’s why we’ve been reasonably successful up to now, but it gets even harder when you’ve got a target on your back now. You produce a good performance and now people will be looking at us and thinking, ‘can they go again.’ And all these questions are going to be asked of us between now and the end of the season.

“So we have to respond properly as a group by staying humble and keep working and keep getting better. From here on in, it’s so important to try and produce the same level of performance and if we can get even better, that’s the challenge for us now.

“We’ll continue to play our football, be relentless and we pick up the wins that we need and put ourselves in a good position. But as I said, the hard work starts now in terms of staying focused, staying calm and playing our football and getting results. That’s our full focus now.”
