SPFL side linked with signing 32-year-old Celtic goalkeeper this summer

Celtic goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist has emerged as a transfer target for Aberdeen. The Swiss goalkeeper is a peripheral figure at Celtic these days, sitting behind Scott Bain and No.1 Joe Hart in the pecking order.

Now, the Daily Record reports that the Dons are considering a move for the former Dundee United stopper as a potential replacement for Roos in the summer. Impressive displays at Tannadice saw Ange Postecoglou move to bring the experienced stopper to Celtic Park and until the winter break, Siegrist was Celtic’s No.2 and made Cup appearances.

Siegrist was set to make a temporary switch to Austria with Sturm Graz but the deal fell apart at the last minute with the Swiss goalkeeper left to remain at Celtic. Despite having three years remaining on his deal, it is clear that Siegrist will not be Celtic’s No.1 and is expected to move on.

With Hart set to retire in the summer, Celtic will be looking for a new No.1 goalkeeper and it is expected that Liverpool’s Kelleher will be atop of the wishlist as Brendan Rodgers looks to rebuild in the summer.
