Spurs not expecting Ange Postecoglou to leave for Anfield a year after Celtic switch

Tottenham Hotspur are confident that Ange Postecoglou will remain at the club despite links with the impending vacancy at Liverpool. After Jurgen Klopp’s shock announcement that he would be leaving the role at Anfield, the former Celtic manager was one of the first names tipped as his successor.

However, Matt Law at the Daily Telegraph reports that Spurs are not worrying about the Australian heading for his boyhood club in the summer.

Spurs could have looked at the example of Ange leaving the Socceroos, Yokohama F Marinos or Celtic as an example of his ambition to get to the top. Although, with a club in the position that Spurs are, they’ll be desperate to retain Ange.

Ange spoke about admiring Liverpool while growing up in Melbourne. Although, he has since said that he doesn’t have posters of the Fonz on his wall either now.

Ange arrived at Celtic in the summer of 2021 with a huge rebuilding job on his hands. After a rough start, the Celtic support and the players united behind the manager and the results started to come, culminating in a Double in his first season. Domestic dominance continued the following season, as well as a crack at the Champions League.

It was bittersweet as we bid farewell to Ange last June as we knew he would leave the Scottish Cup Final and the Treble. Ange won five domestic trophies and helped produce a scintillating product on the pitch.

It’s brilliant to see Ange doing well, even if we are allowed to miss the days he helped bring to the club.
