St Johnstone v Celtic: Experienced referee named for Saturday night clash

The SFA have confirmed the refereeing appointments for Celtic’s trip to Perth to face St Johnstone. The Scottish Champions take on the managerless Saints on Saturday evening, which is live on Premier Sports.

Experienced referee Don Robertson has been named as the whistleblower for the clash. The 37-year-old will be assisted by Daniel McFarlane and Craig Ferguson. Meanwhile, at Clydesdale House, Alan Muir is on VAR duties with Graeme Leslie assisting.

Robertson took charge of Celtic’s Premiership opener against Kilmarnock, but failed to spot a penalty for Brendan Rodgers’ side after Kyogo was brought down in the box by Robby McCrorie. Hopefully there are no repeats at the weekend.

Meanwhile, Brendan will likely be up against Alec Cleland in the Saints dugout after Scott Brown rebuffed two advances by the Perthshire club. Tiernan Lynch and Peter Leven have been approached by new Saints owner Adam Webb, who is looking to replace Craig Levein. It is unlikely that they will manage to get someone into the role before the game as it is likely one that the new manager will want to avoid.

  1. No penalty against Kilmarnock by him and var then sfa says it should have been given where did change from no penalty a well known embarrassing pundit for sky well sky threat as a clown showing his reaction to Celtic wins and sevco losses says where can the goalkeeper go what a comment he stays on his line coming of it he obstruct kyoko all officails involved in the game suffers cause off a man’s biased shown by the two men ref and var honestly it’s always Celtic nearly every game we see opposition getting things Celtic don’t even the good goals are inspected by var as far back as the moves starts against new co rangers and good goal chopped off by var there is no way he is off side the attacking team gets the benefit in a call that becomes a man’s eye that not right the lines could not separate them so goal Celtic went on to win and officials honesty didn’t have to be highlighted Celtic have to show these judgement by certain officails against Celtic no way officails calls should be questioned that’s what var for but it is a mess cause of human intervention I’d see what a computer says not a retired ref who won’t questioned another but he has to say these decisions are embarrassing our profession
