St Johnstone v Celtic – moved for Sky Sports broadcast

The Hoops’ clash against Simo Valakari’s side was initially to be played on Saturday 5 April at 3:00pm in Perth. However, the match has now been moved to Sunday 6 April with a 12:00pm kick-off time.

The SPFL confirmed Celtic’s fixture change in a statement on Monday. Three other matches between March and April have also been moved due to televised picks from Sky Sports and Premier Sports.

A St Johnstone statement yesterday afternoon read: “Our William Hill Premiership match against Celtic in April has been selected for live TV coverage by Sky Sports.”

“The fixture was originally set for Saturday April 5, at 3pm, but the match will now be played on Sunday April 6, with a 12pm kick-off. Ticket details for this fixture will be released in due course.”

This will be Rodgers’ men’s penultimate league outing prior to the annual top six and bottom six commencing. Celtic can secure four-in-a-row should they win their next six consecutive league games.

New owners looking at bigger away allocation from next season – why wait?

St Johnstone’s new owners are planning to increase the away allocation from next season to help solve their empty seats issue which is basically throwing money away. However with the Saints in real danger of relegation this might be not much use playing in the championship. This match is a chance to fill McDiarmid Park and fill the coffers at the Perth club too.

Celtic supporters would certainly welcome an increased allocation and would gratefully snap up all additional tickets. Why wait to next season before starting the new policy when you know that the Perth stadium will once again be half empty under the existing system?
