Wilfried Nancy revealed he held constructive talks with his Celtic squad following Thursday night’s Europa League setback against Roma…
The visitors proved too strong at Celtic Park, with Evan Ferguson scoring twice and an own-goal from Liam Scales compounding the Hoops’ misery in a 3-0 loss.
Nancy again stuck with his preferred 3-4-2-1 shape, naming an unchanged starting XI from last weekend’s 2-1 defeat to Hearts.
Attention now turns to Hampden tomorrow afternoon, where Celtic will look to bounce back in Sunday’s Premier Sports League Cup final against St Mirren and chase the club’s first silverware of the campaign.

“A final is a final, to be honest with you,” said Nancy at yesterday’s media conference via Celtic’s official YouTube channel. “As you know, so it’s not the same.”
“Obviously, the fact that we didn’t win the last two games mentally could be, we can have a bit of uncertainty, I would say. But to be honest, we’re having a good discussion with the players, and we know what we did well, we know what we need to improve, and everything is clear, and they are really focused on this game, so it doesn’t change too much regarding that.”
Celtic required a dramatic late strike from Callum McGregor to secure victory in their most recent meeting with St Mirren, while Luke McCowan had previously delivered a decisive late goal against Stephen Robinson’s side on the opening day of the season.

“I expect a big game,” Nancy said. “You know, a final, it’s all about emotion. You know, this is how we can balance the emotion.”
“Play with emotion, but also balance the emotion. I think that the team who is going to be able to be good on that will maximise their chance to win. But it’s going to be a tough game, as we know.”
“But again, we are ready to accept this challenge and to do whatever it takes to win the game.”
