Stand down – Micah Richards clarifies tweet that had Celtic fans speculating

Micah Richards and Roy Keane have struck up an unlikely friendship in the Sky Sports studio as the pair have had their say on Premier League games this season. Despite being from opposite sides of the Manchester football divide, the pair are quite close, so when Richards tweeted a cryptic gif of ‘It’s Happening’, Celtic fans were suspecting that his pundit partner might be getting back into management with Celtic.

Fortunately, Richards has clarified his tweet saying that it was merely in response to England returning this evening in the World Cup qualifiers. The former Man City defender tweeted to clear up any mistake by insisting Roy Keane didn’t answer his calls.

The former Manchester United and Celtic midfielder has been widely linked with the vacancy despite not having held the position of manager in over a decade. The Ireland legend has been Assistant to Martin O’Neill with Ireland and Nottingham Forest. The 49-year-old made thirteen appearances for Celtic in 2006 before injury forced him to retire. Since moving into management, he has had two managerial positions with Sunderland and Ipswich.
