‘It’s strange but Celtic will weather the storm,’ insists Paul Lambert

FORMER CELTIC Captain Paul Lambert was a guest on talkSPORT this morning and the fall-out from Celtic’s defeat at Kilmarnock was the hot topic for discussion. Lambert is as baffled as anyone else about the form slump and apparent unease with the camp that has afflicted Celtic’s season so far and was very evident in the borefest at Rugby Park.

Celtic were gifted a lead after a comedy of errors in the Kilmarnock defence but other than a shot by Ryan Christie in the second half, contributed no other threat in the game and were sucker punched with a old fashioned one two to lose all three points. They can scarcely claim to have deserved better either.

Lambert, commenting on the slump on talkSPORT said: “It’s strange isn’t it?

“Because they’ve had that much dominance over the last few years and because they’re going through a little blip, it magnifies.

“And being in Glasgow, where things do get magnified, from a little crisis, it become a major, major thing.

“Celtic are going through that little patch at the moment but they will weather the storm, they’ll come through it.”

Lambert repeated all that stuff about it being a mistake putting Rangers down the divisions – blah blah blah – so we’ll spare you that nonsense. He went on to say that the challenge fro Edinburgh this season – with Hearts in top spot and Hibs hitting form – adds to the excitement.

“You’d still expect Rangers and Celtic to be up there but Hearts and Hibs have done great this year.

“I think Lenny is doing really, really well there and Craig Levein is doing really well at Hearts as well.

“It’s good for the game. It needs a definite boost up there, without a doubt.”
