MLS analyst Herculez Gomez has revealed that Celtic are getting themselves ‘a winner’ should Wilfried Nancy be confirmed as the club’s next manager…

The 48-year-old coach of Columbus Crew appears to be the frontrunner to take over at Celtic following Brendan Rodgers’ shock resignation two weeks ago.
Gomez – an ESPN analyst with extensive MLS experience – has followed the French coach’s ascent in North America and feels the ex-CF Montreal manager possesses the qualities to thrive at Celtic.
Speaking via the BBC, Gomez said: “He has an idea of how he wants to play, it’s very brave, it’s very nuanced. It’s very New Age, modern football, if you will, but in a crazy, mad scientist way.
“That’s who he’s been from day one, and it’s really gone well. I say meteoric rise because 2021 is when he got his first professional stint as a manager, and since then, he’s collected a few titles. Canadian Championship, MLS Leagues Cup, MLS Cup.
“Speak to his players and they’ll say the result is secondary. Secondary because he wants to implement the brand first, and the rest follows.”

Gomez went on to deliver a message aimed at fans who remain doubtful of Nancy possibly becoming next Celtic manager. “Strap yourselves in,” he said. “You’re going to get a coach who has an identity and a way of playing that fans relate to, that fans feel proud of.
“You’re getting a coach who knows what he’s doing, you’re getting a coach who wants to express himself on the field, and you’re getting a winner. That’s what Wilfried Nancy has been in his very short, meteoric rise. He’s a winner”.

Celtic have yet to deliver an update to supporters regarding the managerial process and if it is coming to a conclusion or not. Speculation has been mounting that the club have to wait until next month to secure the man they want. That would point towards Nancy or Bodo/Glimt’s Kjetil Knutsen.
