Sunday football as Celtic FC Women travel to New Douglas Park

On Sunday afternoon, Celtic FC Women travel away to Hamilton Accies as the Ghirls hope to leapfrog theRangers in the SWPL1 table. Kit Loferski will likely be returning to the starting line-up after she returned from injury against Glasgow City in the Sky Sports cup last Friday night. The American scored in that game, and she will be hoping to grab a goal or two against our opponents, who sit rock bottom in the table.

The last time Fran Alonso’s side played Hamilton was in the second round of the league cup, where we demolished them 6-0 to advance in the competition. Celtic FC Women hosted them earlier in the season in a league clash as well, where we ran out 7-1 victors.

In their last five league games, Hamilton have three losses and two draws. They have been dismantled by the likes of theRangers and Hibernian but managed to scrape draws against Spartans and Montrose.

Celtic will be hoping to get the game over with quickly and Hamilton will have accepted that they don’t stand a chance against the Hoops. With that being said, they will likely put up a fight in an attempt to steal at least a point, which would minimise the gap between themselves and 11th place Montrose.

As far as a score prediction goes, I see this being an easy job for Celtic, so I’ll go for Celtic FC Women 5, Hamilton 0. The game will be played at New Douglas Park and kicks off at 16:30pm. Tickets are available to buy at the gate, with additional ticket information available below. Unfortunately this game will not be available to watch online.

In the earlier match Glasgow City take on theRangers and if the visitors fail to win, Celtic can go to top with a win at New Douglas Park.
