Swansea make approach for highly-rated Celtic man for Assistant Manager role

Celtic are braced for an approach for First Team Pathways Manager Darren O’Dea. The ex-Celtic defender moved into the management role last year after a job-sharing role with Stephen McManus for Celtic B.

The Irishman is highly rated at Celtic and was given the internal role to assist with players following the pathway from the Celtic Academy to Celtic Park. It appears though that Swansea City are interested in bringing O’Dea back into coaching with a role that would see him take over as Alan Sheehan’s No2.

As reported by Sun Sport, O’Dea has been headhunted by Swansea for the role, despite moving into an operations role last season.

The 38-year-old has obvious close ties to Celtic but may be tempted by the prospect of working with Sheehan at Swansea. The ex-Dundee captain could receive a tantalising offer, which may be too much to turn down.

The role at Celtic is one that is unlikely to be measured against league position and can result in progressing the club domestically and in Europe. However, if O’Dea wants to get back into coaching, he will likely want to get back into the dugout with Swansea.
