Team’s Up – Ange names extremely attacking XI, no Jota

Ange Postecoglou has named his Celtic team for this evening’s Champions League game against RB Leipzig. The Germans ran out 3-1 winners in the game last week, where they impressed in the second half, but Ange’s side once again failed to take chances in the first half.

The manager shuffled his pack for the late win on Saturday against St Johnstone with an eye on this game.

Joe Hart starts, the Englishman will be hoping to make up for the error that resulted in the second Leipzig goal.

In defence, Cameron Carter-Vickers starts and wears the armband. He is joined by Moritz Jenz. Josip Juranovic and Greg Taylor come into the team in the full back berths.

Matt O’Riley is the deep lying midfielder in Calmac’s role while his usual slot in the side is taken by Sead
Hakšabanović while Reo Hatate completes the midfield trio that was successfully road tested at Perth before Ange took the three of them off with tonight in mind. It could also form into a 4-2-4, which would be extremely attacking.

Kyogo also got a rest on Saturday and returns tonight, although Giakoumakis is certain to be involved at some stage in the proceedings. Liel Abada keeps his place on the right of the front three and Maeda starts. Unfortunately, Jota has not made it.

The Celtic team this evening is as follows: Hart, Juranovic, Taylor, Carter-Vickers, Jenz, O’Riley, Hatate, Hakšabanović, Abada, Kyogo and Maeda.

On the bench for Celtic are Siegrist, Bain, Welsh, Ralston, Bernabei Turnbull, Mooy, McCarthy Ablidgaard, Robertson, Forrest and Giakoumakis.

Ange never learns, his Japs along with Jota , O’Reilly, Abada and Taylor are nowhere near Champions League class. We need a strong defensive midfielder to disrupt play and a real playmaker who can find strikers in the box Until he learns we will be Europa League class at best
