Team’s Up – Ange names strong XI for Rapid Vienna test

Ange Postecoglou has named his team for this evening’s pre-season friendly against Rapid Vienna. After a 7-0 win on Wednesday, the Celtic manager is able to name a strong starting XI, one that wouldn’t be out of place when the season begins.

In goals, English shot-stopper and Celtic No.1 Joe Hart starts.

In defence, Osaze Urhoghide will be looking to impress at right-back. He is joined by Alexander Bernabei at left-back with the central defensive pairing of Cameron Carter-Vickers and Stephen Welsh. It will be the USA Internationalist’s first start since agreeing to a permanent deal.

In midfield, captain Callum McGregor makes his first start this pre-season. He is joined by Matt O’Riley and Reo Hatate. You would expect that this would be a strong midfield three that the manager will want to call upon as the season begins.

In attack, Jota starts on the right – his first start since agreeing to a permanent move himself. The Portuguese star is joined by Maeda on the left and Giorgos Giakoumakis through the middle.

On the bench for The Scottish Champions: Bain, Siegrist, Oluyemi, Jullien. Taylor, Kyogo, Ajeti, Abada, Turnbull, McCarthy, Johnston, Ideguchi, Kenny, Shaw, Forrest, Lawal and Vata.

Come on Celtic.
