Team’s Up – Barkas returns to Celtic Park for Utrecht

Vasilis Barkas has been named in the Utrecht starting XI for this evening’s UEFA Europa League clash with Celtic. The Greek Internationalist joined Celtic from AEK Athens in 2021 but failed to make a positive impression.

The £4.5m signing was replaced by Scott Bain before Joe Hart arrived at the club the following year as Ange Postecoglou took charge at Paradise. Despite some unhappy memories, Barkas has spoken positively about Celtic but he could have a say in whether the club progress in Europe.

Utrecht are eliminated but Celtic will be confident of making their place in the playoff rounds.

Utrecht: Barkas, Vesterlund, Van der Hoorn, Viergever, Murkin, D. de Wit, Engwanda, Zechiel, Blake, Rodriguez, Cathline

Subs: Brouwer, Gadellaa, Van den Berg, Bozdogan, El Karouani, Didden, El Arguioui, Van Ommeren, Menzo, Haller
