Team’s Up – Changes for Celtic as Ange plans for Glasgow Derby

Ange Postecoglou has named his Celtic side for this afternoon’s game against Dundee United. The Celts will be hoping to warm up for the midweek Glasgow Derby with maximum points as well as avoiding a potential banana skin in the form of the visitors from Tannadice.

The manager clearly has the midweek clash in the back of his head as he has made a few changes to manage the game time of his squad, who have already been depleted due to injuries.

In goals, Joe Hart continues. The Englishman will be hoping for a quiet afternoon against the visitors from Tayside.

In defence, Tony Ralston and Liam Scales come into the full-back berths. The central pairing of Carl Starfelt and Cameron Carter-Vickers continues as Ange gives an indication of what the back four will look like against Rangers on Wednesday.

In midfield, Nir Bitton continues at the base of the Celtic three. The Israel Internationalist takes the captain’s armband in the absence of Callum McGregor and is joined by Reo Hatate and Matt O’Riley. The January signings impressed in the win at Tynecastle.

In attack, Giorgos Giakoumakis leads the line. He is joined on the wings by Liel Abada on the left and James Forrest on the right.

On the bench: Bain, Jullien, Soro, McCarthy, Jota, Welsh, Doan, Juranovic

The teams have met earlier this season, a 1-1 draw at Celtic Park followed up by a 3-0 thrashing in Dundee. The manager will be hoping for a repeat of the latter but will have to do so without four players that shone that day – captain Callum McGregor, David Turnbull, Tom Rogic and Kyogo.

Come on Celtic!
