Team’s Up – Lennon names same XI as Wednesday with no striker starting and Turnbull on bench

NEIL LENNON has named an unchanged starting XI for the visit of Motherwell to Celtic Park this afternoon. The Scottish Champions will look to close the gap between the league leaders to six points whilst compounding the misery of the Well.

After Wednesday night’s horror showing versus Ferencvaros, you would have been forgiven for thinking that changes may have been made to the starting XI, namely with a striker starting. However, the manager has opted to go for the same team.

In goals, Vasilis Barkas starts. In front of the Greek International, Kris Ajer and Christopher Jullien play in the centre of defence with Hatem Abd Elhamed and Greg Taylor on either flank. Elhamed playing means Celtic can easily switch into the 3-5-2 formation so it will be interesting to see if the Hoops start in this or in a more conventional 4-2-3-1.

In midfield, Olivier Ntcham is joined by Callum McGregor and Celtic captain Scott Brown. The Frenchman was linked with a move away following the Champions League exit but he is retained.

In attack, Ryan Christie continues up front despite Ajeti and Klimala making the bench. Moi Elyounoussi and James Forrest start on either flanks.

On the bench: Bain, Bitton, Ajeti, Klimala, Soro, Turnbull, Frimpong, Harper, McInroy
