Team’s Up – McGregor returns, front three of Maeda, Kyogo and Jota

Ange Postecoglou has named his Celtic side to take on Aberdeen at Pittodrie in the 12.30pm kick-off for the Scottish Premiership match which is live on Sky Sports.

Celtic are currently six points clear at the top of the league looking down on theRangers who defeated Hibs at Ibrox on Thursday night in their first match back by 3-2, courtesy of an honest mistake from both referee Nick Walsh and the ludge-VAR operators.

A victory today will see Celtic restore the nine point lead at the top of the table and of course the next visitors to Pittodrie are Mick Beale’s outfit who are in Aberdeen on Tuesday night.

Celtic start wil Joe Hart in goals and a back four of Anthony Ralston, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Carl Starfelt and Greg Taylor.

In midfield there is a welcome return for club captain Callum MCGregor and he has Matt Riley and Reo Hatate ahead of him. The front three are Jota, Kyogo and Maeda.

Substitutes for Celtic are Siegrist, Jenz, Bernabei, Mooy, Turnbull, Forrest, Abada, Giakoumakis and Lawal.

Speaking at yesterday’s media conference which The Celtic Star attended, Ange Postecoglou had this to say about today’s game: “We’ve been back for a couple of weeks. We had a good week in Portugal and a good week training here, and we’re ready to get going again.

“It’s always a tough game at Aberdeen. Even last year we won there twice but both of them were tough games, so you expect a tough game.

“Their home form’s been great but I think it’s probably been missed by a few people but our away form’s not bad either, so there’s a bit in there as well.

“We obviously had a really strong start to the season in the league, and the key to that now is to keep improving and I don’t think there’s any reason why we shouldn’t. Our league form’s been very strong even though we had a really hectic schedule, including Champions League games, going into the break.

“So whilst the schedule is just as challenging moving forward, we don’t have that challenge of Champions League football and we’ve got a couple of players back from injury as well, which I think will hopefully make us stronger moving forward.”
