Team’s Up – One change at Easter Road as Bernardo starts

Brendan Rodgers has named his Celtic team for this afternoon’s game against Hibernian. The Scottish Champions have been excellent on the road this season, winning at Pittodrie, Ibrox, Livingston, Fir Park and Tynecastle. Now, Celtic will be looking to add Easter Road to that list by recording three points and extending their lead at the top of the table.

The manager has made just one change from the midweek game against Atletico Madrid with Paolo Bernardo coming into the side.

In goals, Joe Hart starts. The Englishman has been in stellar form this season and will be looking to continue that with a clean sheet on the road today.

In defence,  Cameron Carter-Vickers and Liam Scales start in the central pairing with Greg Taylor and Alistair Johnston in the full back berths.

In midfield, Paolo Bernardo comes in to replace Reo Hatate to start alongside Callum McGregor and Matt O’Riley.

In attack, Daizen Maeda starts on the right with Luis Palma on the left with Kyogo through the middle.

Subs: Bain, Phillips, Yang, Turnbull, Oh, Iwata, Forrest, Ralston & Johnston.

Very poor performance from Celtic today, they looked sluggish right from the off and passing in the final third was too often lacking quality. So many players just didn’t do it today, including Kyogo, Maeda, O’reilly and Palma. Hibs played the usual park the bus kind of game, which is ruining football, but Celtic should still have managed a goal or two. Consistency is the name of the game and Celtic sometimes fall short on that front. I don’t know why Bernardo is playing when Iwata is a far more creative player. Also, what is it with Rodgers fascination with Turnbull and Forrest when he has ambitious young players itching for an opportunity, players like Vata, Holm and Yang. Doesn’t make sense that he keeps going back to the old hasbeens.
