Team’s Up – One change from Sunday, Maeda starts up front

Ange Postecoglou has named his team for this evening’s game against St Mirren. Celtic won the last meeting at Celtic Park 6-0 before drawing 0-0 when the teams met back in December. The manager is looking to get his players back to winning ways having lost to Bodø/Glimt in Europe then drawing against Hibs on Sunday.

The Australian has decided to make 1 change from the weekend with Matt O’Riley coming in for Tom Rogic.

Joe Hart is Celtic’s undisputed No.1 and the Englishman starts between the sticks, having missed the previous trip to Paisley with an illness.

In defence, the manager has decided to go with the same back four as he went with on Sunday. Josip Juranovic at right-back, Greg Taylor at left-back, and then the defensive pairing of Cameron Carter-Vickers and Carl Starfelt in the middle of the back four.

In midfield, Callum McGregor will start at the base of the midfield. The Celtic captain will be joined by Reo Hatate, who had an uncharacteristically poor game at Hibs, and Matt O’Riley, replacing Tom Rogic from the side that drew on Sunday. The intensity of O’Riley will be preferable against St Mirren, who will likely camp deep into their half. Having the Australian playmaker to come on could be pivotal if they frustrate Celtic as the game goes on.

In attack, Daizen Maeda leads the line. The Japanese forward hasn’t yet hit the heights expected of him after arriving from Yokohama F Marinos but tonight could be the start of a purple patch for him. Liel Abada starts on the right with Jota starting on the left.

On the bench: Bain, Bitton, Ajeti, McCarthy, Rogic, Ideguchi, Forrest, Ralston, Karamoko.

Albian Ajeti has returned to the Celtic squad after suffering a hamstring injury against Real Betis in December. The Swiss striker will be hoping to get some game time tonight as Giorgos Giakoumakis failed to make it this evening.
