“That decision has to be decided only by Ange Postecoglou,” Hartson on a quick-fire Broony Return to Celtic

John Hartson reacted to yesterday’s news that the former Celtic captain Scott Brown had terminated his contract at Aberdeen and left the club with immediate effect to pursue his coaching ambitions.

“He might have something lined up, he might just want a break, want to rest,” Hartson commented last night on Go Radio. “Knowing Scott, that won’t be the case. He’ll want to stay active.

“It’s a shock to me. I know he was determined to go to Aberdeen but not only play a role under Stephen Glass as manager, but Scott I think was promised a little bit of coaching. That was his plan to do his badges and then get involved in that side of the game. That’s not worked out.

“Whether or not he showed a bit of loyalty to Glass, I don’t know, but I believe he still had 16 months left on his contract. I’m not really sure what he does now, but he’s had an incredible career.

“Would it be nice for Brown to come back to Celtic, to coach? That decision has to be decided only by Ange Postecoglou. I don’t think you come back at this stage of the season with everything that’s in the mix, where Celtic are right now, top of the league but stranger things have happened.”
