“The atmosphere is first class and it will be the same on Tuesday night,” Callum McGregor

SKY SPORTS: Sum up that performance and that win?

Callum McGregor: “It was excellent. The intensity that we started the game with was fantastic. They struggled to live with us at times. The press was great and we played super-aggressive in the game. We got the goal to start us off and that kicked the whole stadium off as well. It was superb from start to finish.”

SKY SPORTS: Given that early blow with Kyogo going off that didn’t seem to upset you but getting the early goal helped, didn’t it?

Callum McGregor: “I said to Giako (Giorgos Giakoumakis) out there that he showed the first-class mentality to come on in the first minute of the game and play like that. That shows you the attitude of the substitutes and the whole squad is all in it together. To come on after a minute and play as he did was absolutely first-class.”

SKY SPORTS: Can you sum up Liel Abada’s performance?

Callum McGregor: “He was top drawer. He gets his goals and he is always a threat. Every time he plays he looks like he can score a handful of goals and again today on the big occasion he has made his mark.”

SKY SPORTS: What sort of message does it send out to the rest of the league with this big win?

Callum McGregor: “I think it just shows everybody what we are all about. We understand there are only six games gone and there is a lot of football to be played. Your home games are super important if you want to go on and win the league and that’s what we wanted to do today and show what kind of team we are at home. We did that and it is important that we have to go and back it up by getting a few results as well.”

SKY SPORTS: How does this set you up for the Champions League and the beginning of the group stage?

Callum McGregor: “The atmosphere is first class and it will be the same on Tuesday night. We have sent the supporters home happy today and they will be looking forward to Tuesday just like we are.”
