The Bhoys are Back in Lennoxtown as Pre-season Schedule is finalised

A sizeable number of Celtic players returned to Lennoxtown this morning including new signing Ben Siegrist and some of the Bhoys out on loan for the second half of last season including Liam Shaw who is back from his spell at Motherwell and Osaze Urhoghide who was over in Belgium playing for KV Oostende.

Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi are both back at training with Kyogo and Daizen Maeda still on their extended break. There will be no Tom Rogic or Nir Bitton for the first time in a decade at Celtic’s training seasons, truly the beginning of a new era.

Mikey Johnston is there, as indeed is James Forrest and both wingers will be looking to contribute much more in the new season after subdued campaigns last time around.

Harry Kewell is there and was never far from Ange Postecoglou as the two Australians no doubt had a lengthy conversation about the Scottish summertime weather, with Ange perhaps recommending that the new Celtic coach picks up some jumpers from the superstore. John Kennedy has the clipboard, Gavin Strachan will be on the iPad as Celtic go through the gears ahead of the new season.

Before the serious business begins the remaining players, absent today as they have an extended break due to their International football commitments this month, will join their teammates as indeed will any new signings who are confirmed and there’s the matter of the six pre-season friendly matches, which have now all been confirmed.

The last match to be confirmed is actually the first one being played. Just last night it was confirmed that Celtic will kick-off the new season with the opening pre-season friendly on Wednesday 6 July against Austrian side SC Wiener Viktoria. The match will be played at the club’s home of SV Bad Erlach and the kick-off time will be at 5.30pm Celtic Park time.

Here are the details on the pre-season fixture list with Celtic TV planning on showing all the games and Premier Sports broadcasting some of them.

SC Wiener Viktoria (A) – Wednesday 6 July
Rapid Vienna (A) – Saturday 9 July
Banik Ostrava (A) – Wednesday 13 July
