Opinion – The Board have backed Lennon so we must now do the same

It is probably fair to say that the majority of Celtic fans feel that a change in management is now required. However, Neil Lennon has reiterated that he has the full backing of the board and thus we must give the gaffer the same.

I don’t think many people dislike Neil Lennon or doubt his Celtic credentials, so all of us doubters would like nothing better than for Lenny to turn things around and leave us eating humble pie as we collect the league title in May. That said, there was nothing wrong with fans putting the club first and expressing an opinion that a new Manager is likely needed to resolve the early season issues.

Now that the board have backed Lennon and shown that a change in Manager will not be forthcoming, it is counter productive to continue arguing this case. Rightly or wrongly, Neil Lennon will remain the boss and therefore the best thing that we can do is back him and his players.

I hope that the rumours of a protest at Celtic Park today are untrue. Lennon is here to stay for a while at least so, for the good of Celtic, we have to offer him and the team our support.
