The Cameron Carter-Vickers update Celtic fans have been waiting for

Celtic have been handed a huge boost with the news that Cameron Carter-Vickers will return to training next week. The 26-year-old has had a stop-start season owing to a hamstring issue but looks to be nearing his return.

Speaking at Friday’s media conference, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers confirmed that his star defender would be available for selection shortly.

The USA Internationalist has been unfortunate with injuries this season, missing a total of 19 games so far. However, his return will be a major boost to the backline and the squad as a whole.

Celtic have used Gustaf Lagerbielke, Maik Nawrocki, Nat Phillips, Stephen Welsh and Liam Scales across the course of the season as they looked for consistency to replace the departed Carl Starfelt and injured CCV.

As Celtic look to gain ground over their nearest challengers in the title race, CCV’s return is huge. Not only will Carter-Vickers be available shortly but defensive colleague Alistair Johnston will be back too. Defensively, Celtic haven’t been at their best this season – likely owing to Carter-Vickers’ absence. Although, with the North American pair to return, Rodgers will be eager to get a run with a settled backline put together.
