“They just refuse to yield, there is no lost cause,” Ange Postecoglou

Celtic go a magnificent seven points clear at the the top of the league looking down on theRangers despite, VAR, the referee and a strong fightback from Dundee United in the closing stages but it ended ‘We Never Stop’ Celtic 4 Dundee United 2…

Well that was exciting! A VAR interrupted first half with the strangest outcomes, basically denying Celtic the chance to play flowing football with long stops in the game followed by the strangest outcomes, no wonder even Ange Postecoglou is starting to sound as paranoid as the rest of us and he should remember he was warned from the word go…

Speaking to Celtic TV after the game, Ange had this to say when asked if today’s 4-2 win over Dundee United was a perfect example of ‘We Never Stop’…”Yeah and I think people realise now that it’s not by chance. It’s not luck. It’s something we’ve drilled into the guys from day one and they’ve embraced it. They just refuse to yield, there is no lost cause and credit to them.”

Outstanding from the gaffer as always. Don’t you get the feeling that the longer he is here the more he is emerging himself in the Celtic Cause? Next, Ange’s thoughts on whether VAR is interrupting the flow of the game: “Absolutely. I mean look, I was probably more frustrated than anyone. I probably didn’t handle it too well.

“I’ve no issue with VAR but they don’t have to use it. The decisions they came to today could’ve been done very quickly. I don’t think we come to the football to sit there and wait for somebody in a place a long way from here to make a decision.

“I just don’t think that’s what football’s about. It’s not an issue with VAR. If they think it’s a handball, just say it’s a handball and a penalty and let’s get on with it. They don’t have to sit there for so long just to come to a decision.”

Ange incidentally had much more to say about the officials in his other interviews away from Celtic TV, referring to the handball decisions that have been consistently given against Celtic but ignored by the officials when we were playing Hearts away.

On today’s goalscorers – Sead Haksabanovic who got the first two and the two substitutes, Kyopo and Liel Abada who came off the bench to win the three points for Celtic – Ange had this to say: “Again, there are no secrets there. It’s very much about the kind of squad we are. We’re not just the starting 11 and the guys who came on today played their part, other times it’s others who come on. But credit to the lads, they came on and gave us some energy and two quality goals.”
