“They’ve been unbelievable from pretty much day one,” Ange Postecoglou praises Celtic support

Ange Postecoglou has praised the Celtic support for backing both himself and his players from the very first day he arrived at the club, amid mainstream media cynicism about the Australian’s appointment as Celtic manager. And that immediate and unwavering support has been recognised by Ange in his wide-ranging interview on Australian media channel Optus Sport.

“The fans have been unbelievable and to be fair they’ve been unbelievable from pretty much day one. They obviously didn’t know who I was either for the most part but it’s funny, but at the same time they are fiercely loyal about their own people so once I was announced I think they just figured ‘look, he’s one of ours now so we are going to back him, lay off him and even at the start when things were a bit rocky with results, from they moment I arrived they have been right behind me.

They want me to succeed then it’s up to me to deliver obviously. And it was important for the team because I thought putting a new group of players together who are also experiencing Celtic for the first time, what I didn’t;t want was the pressure of them having to appease the crowd or not having the crowd behind them so inadvertently by supporting me they were backing the players and that has helped us enormously,” Ange said.
