Third time Lucky? Why a Livingston v Celtic re-match is on the cards

CELTIC fans played a part in Tom Rogic’s equaliser at the Tony Macaroni Arena on Wednesday night. If you were there you know how the atmosphere changed when it became clear that the Rangers had lost – not sure if that was picked up by BT Sport or Celtic TV for those watching their broadcasts, but at the game the Hamilton goal was cheered as was the final whistle at Ibrox.

And with Celtic adding a stoppage time equaliser it was a point gained and a lead extended rather than two dropped. You saw the footage of Neil Lennon’s reaction – Wednesday was the night that the fight for the title effectively ended.

“I don’t know about other guys but I heard our fans roaring during the game, when we were 2-1, so I was I like, ‘what’s going on here?’ Nir Bitton told the Media yesterday, as reported by Daily Record.

“Then I realised Rangers were playing at the same time so I thought something happened there.

“But you know, during the game you don’t think about it you concentrate on yourself you concentrate on your game. We need to make sure that we stick to our game plan, stick to the thing that the manager wants us to do, and we need to win as many games as we can.

“I think when we, when you play for a club like Celtic you have to believe all the time. You play for a massive club, you’re always fighting for trophies, you have to have this winning mentality, and you have to, every game even if we are down even if we are up.

“We play the same style of play and we will always be on the front foot and try to win the game and it’s special dressing room to be in.”

“Every away game in the Scottish league is difficult. Everyone wants to stop us, everyone wants to beat us, to be the hero, and we need to need to accept it. We need to face it, we need to match it and we do it. But we do it every week and just need to keep going,” the Israeli international star said.

“We always believe in ourselves and, you know, as I said, we gave away two goals, we had to chase the game. I think we after we scored the first goal, I felt quite comfortable. I felt that we’re gonna have a good night but then we get away two goals so we had to chase the game.

“But you have guys on the bench that can change the game for you. And they did it. It is not the best place to come and play. I mean, I prefer this surface than St Johnstone. We knew before the game, it’s going to be a dirty game.

“It’s gonna be a lot of fighting a lot of the dirty side of the game. We need to match it. I think we played some good football through the game, we created enough chances to win again.”

Two tricky away venues for Celtic are certainly trips to Livingston and also Hibs. Celtic have now played Livingston away twice and will go to Easter Road on the last match before the split at the start of next month, so we won’t need to worry about taking on either of these two in the post split fixtures, right?

WRONG! As we got on the bus at the Tony Macaroni Arena the other night after the 2-2 draw Big Kev says, “Look at the positives Bhoys,” they got beat so we’re a point nearer 9-in-a-row and we don’t need to come back here again this season,” and there was general agreement on both these points.

“WRONG,” I said, we will be back here, mark my words. “Rubbish, we’ve played then twice here” Kev said, feeling sure that he was right. “Post split we are going to have three games at home and two away. We’ll have been to Ibrox twice, Pittodrie twice, Fir Park twice, Livingston twice and as we have to go to Easter Road just before the split, Hibs twice.

“So we’ll have to go to two of these places again. Certainly not Ibrox, Pittodrie unlikely, so Hibs, Motherwell and Livingston are left as the league stands now. Take your pick. Another trip to Livingston is going to happen, probably Motherwell too.”

At least it will give big Jullien a chance to stand up to that loathsome character Dykes.
