Three Chances to watch Celtic during International Break, once against a post liquidation new club

While we’re now into the International break as far as Ange Postecoglou’s first team are concerned there are still opportunities to catch some Celtic matches this coming week with Tommy McIntyre’s Celtic B in action tomorrow night then again on Saturday afternoon with two home games in the Lowland League then on Sunday’s Fran Alonso’s Celtic FC Women side travel to New Douglas Park to play Hamilton Accies looking for another three points that will keep them top of the table.

All three matches are well worth heading along to, with the two Celtic games both being played at the Penny Cars Stadium in Airdrie. The action starts tomorrow night – Wednesday 6 October – with a 7.45pm kick-off when Celtic B take on Spartans. Then on Saturday Gretna 2008 are the visitors, the new club following the liquidation of the old club take on Celtic in the 3pm kick-off.

The next day the attention turns to Fran Alonso’s free scoring side who are away to newly promoted Hamilton. Expect goals because Charlie Wellings will be playing!

Charlie Wellings (#21) of Celtic Women FC celebrates her hat trick following her sides 6-0 win during the Scottish Womens Premier League 1 match between Celtic Women and Partick Thistle Women at Penny Cars Stadium, Airdrie, Scotland on 3 October 2021.

The Celtic Star went solo at the Media Conference on Friday with Fran Alonso ahead of Sunday’s 6-0 win over Partick Thistle. Today there were a few fan media journalists present to interview Tommy McIntyre and you can watch how that went below.

Following a break of three weeks without football, Tommy McIntyre’s Celtic B team returned to action on Friday night but lost 1-0 to East Stirlingshire at the Penny Cars Stadium. The Celtic B manager talks through that defeat, and the lesson his young side will learn from it as he looks ahead to two games in four days against Spartans and Gretna 2008, a new club not afraid to tell the truth.

“It’s not just about one game and we’ve been really pleased about how they’ve adjusted to life in playing against men, and at times there’s been some really good performances against us, but at the same time we’ve churned out a lot of good performances,” McIntyre said.

“The young players are beginning to learn in terms of the methodology in the way that we want to try to play, the way that we want to take examples from the first team, and they are a great example for us.

Tommy and Stephen McManus took charge of the first team in this matches after the Dubai fiasco…

“They are still learning, and that’s the whole idea of it, take them out of their comfort zone, get good performances and then the better performances you get, you generally get wins, but it’s not always about winning.

“Yeh, we do like to win, but it’s also about the development and we’re certainly learning a lot this season.”

Tickets for each Celtic B match are priced at £8 for adults and £4 for under-16s. There is a £2 fee on matchday for use of the Airdrie official car park. Buy tickets HERE.
