Three clubs emerge as escape option for want away Celt

HATEM ABD ELHAMED looks set to be nearing the Celtic Park exit door. The right-back has been living alone in Glasgow with his wife and child opting to return to Israel due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to The Scottish Sun, Maccabi Tel Aviv and Maccabi Haifa have been cited as potential clubs for the want-away Celtic right back. Celtic signed Elhamed in 2019 from Hapoel Be’er Sheva but injuries have stalled his progress with Jeremie Frimpong becoming the first pick at the club in the right back position.

Elhamed has played but he has looked as if he was struggling with something on his mind and now it appears clear that he is missing his wife and young son.

The report also names Beitar Jerusalem but due to their supporters extreme right wing views, we imagine this move would be highly unlikely. Elhamed started his career with Maccabi Haifa and will be hoping that either they or Tel Aviv will sanction a move to allow him to return to Israel in January.

Neil Lennon will need to look to the transfer window to bring a couple more options in to compete with Jeremie Frimpong for a starting slot with the 10IAR chasers.
