Transfer news today as leading clubs in Italy, Belgium, Austria and England eye Celtic’s highly rated young striker Daniel Cummings while Celtic appear to be stalling on any new deal…
Bologna, Club Brugge and RB Salzburg are all interested in Celtic striker Daniel Cummings and have sent scouts to watch him closely while English Premier League clubs are also monitoring the 18 year old who has scored 23 goals so far this season including Celtic’s goal in the U19 match against Dinamo Zagreb yesterday afternoon.
Cummings has now scored six times in his last six matches as his contracts runs down. Yet with the highly rated goalscorer out of contract in the summer, Celtic have apparently NOT yet offered him a new deal!
Yes that’s correct Daniel Cummings’ contract runs out at the end of this season but Celtic are yet to offer him a new deal.
While Brendan Rodgers will be reflecting on the Champions League draw in Zagreb and where it leaves Celtic in terms of Champions League qualification and obviously discussing the Premier Sports League Cup Final on Sunday against theRangers, hopefully someone will squeeze in a question about Daniel Cummings.
There was considerable frustration in the summer surrounding both Rocco Vata and Daniel Kelly opting for unglamorous sides in the English Championship – Watford and Millwall respectively – rather than extend their stays at Celtic.
The Celtic manager has spoken about his conversations with Rocco Vata and his plan to give him the third striker role in the Celtic first team squad behind Kyogo and Adam Idah. Rocco didn’t fancy that and instead headed for Watford where he has mostly been on the bench and has yet to score.
If that role is still available then is Daniel Cummings not a worthy contender?
Anthony Joseph at Sky Sports today named Bologna, Club Brugge and RB Salzburg as three of the clubs who are interested in signing the young Celtic goalscorer and adds that there are multiple Premier League clubs also interested.
Celtic’s position on this one seems rather strange. Maybe the player has indicated that he wants to move on and Celtic has reluctantly accepted his decision? Or maybe Celtic’s own evaluation of the player isn’t as positive as his goals return suggests? That would seem just as unlikely as the first option.
So amid talk of Champions League prospects and the huge Cup Final Glasgow Derby on Sunday, hopefully someone will squeeze in a question about why Celtic has yet to offer Daniel Cummings a new contract and the reasons for that?

I think I will trust the judgment of the club on this one, rather than the paranoia of the fans in the media.
If Daniel Cummings hasn’t been offered a new deal yet, there’s probably a very good reason why!
Don’t think for a second that Rodgers hasn’t spoken to this kid! You’d have to be pretty dumb and naive to think that!
I suspect the ball is NOT in Celtic’s court right now, as suggested in this column, but in fact, firmly in the young man’s court! Waiting for an attitude change or similar.
Maybe you’re correct Joe and Brendan is likely to tell us what he can if asked. It’s like the James McCarthy situation, no-one has asked so there has never been any clarity.
