Tommy McIntyre eyes quick-fire response against the Rangers B team in Glasgow Cup

A disappointed Celtic B team manager Tommy McIntyre spoke to Celtic View editor Paul Cuddihy on Celtic TV last night after his side’s disappointing performance and result against the street-wide opponents from across the City as theRangers B team recorded their second success over Celtic in recent weeks, this time with a 1-0 win over Celtic at Paradise last night.

Around 5000 Celtic Supporters got themselves along to Celtic Park last night to support the team and with the Lowland League match being shown live on Pass to Paradise many thousands of Celtic fans would have been tuning in to this rather that the Champions League matches that were live on BT Sport.

That’s exactly what we were doing here but it has to be said that neither side looked particularly impressive in a game where the visitors grabbed a goal against the run of play from a corner kick and then employed as much cynical gamesmanship as you’d see anywhere to see out the match and celebrate their win over at the North Stand in front of the Celtic support.

Ange Postecoglou and John Kennedy were in the Main Stand taking in the action and it’s hard to imagine that any of the B team Bhoys would have impressed the gaffer and his assistant. Still as Tommy McIntyre notes the exposure to playing at Celtic Park and in front of the support – who the B team boss reckoned were magnificent – will do the lads no harm and while there’s another game against Broomhill this weekend minds are wondering towards next week’s match against theRangers B team in the Glasgow Cup. Tommy McIntyre told Celtic TV afterwards.

“I thought we did better in the second half than we did in the first-half. I thought we got to grips with the game and we carved out one or two openings. We did pass the ball better than we had in the first half, so it was disappointing.

“Even the fact that we lost a goal against the run of play – it was just a corner-kick which came in, which we generally deal with, so that was a disappointing factor as well.

“I thought we defended the game well at times in terms of how we pressed the game from the front, which was really good, but then there were opportunities they’ve had which probably came from us with one or two loose passes, and that’s something we need to eradicate.

“They’ll take a couple of days to probably reflect on this, and we will as well. We’ll look at things and how we can improve because we’ve got the game next week – we play them in the Glasgow Cup – but it’s one game at a time, and Broomhill’s the next one on Saturday.”

Hopefully it will be a case of third time lucky for the young Hoops.
