Tony Ralston named in SPFL TOTW ahead of Scotland call

Celtic defender Tony Ralston has been named in the SPFL Team of the Week after his display in the win against St Mirren. The Scotland Internationalist was given a rare start as Alistair Johnston was given a rest ahead of next weekend’s Scottish Cup Final.

Ralston impressed and provided Steve Clarke with a timely reminder that he is raring to go ahead of the European Championships this summer.

Ralston’s performance and excellent assist for Palma was a timely reminder that he can produce when called upon. That is something that Scotland manager Clarke will be considering as he prepares to select his 26-man squad for Euro 2024.

Clarke will name his squad on Wednesday morning and Ralston is certainly in contention for selection given Nathan Patterson and Aaron Hickey are out injured. Ralston will likely compete with Max Johnston and Danny Armstrong to start under Clarke but the wide trio are expected to be included.

Elsewhere, Celtic’s attentions will firmly be on the Scottish Cup and beating Rangers.
