Trabzonspor look set to hijack Gaziantep’s Albian Ajeti deal

We yesterday that Albian Ajeti’s nightmare stay at Celtic Park looked set to be coming to an end, with Turkish side Gaziantep looking to bring him to the Super Liga.

But there has been another development and that proposed deal now looks set to be hijacked by fellow Turkish side Tabzonspor as they seek to bolster their own squad before the closure of the summer transfer window.

According to a report in Turkey by publication Karadeniz, Trabzonspor have came back into the market for a striker after they lost their main attacking threat, Maxi Gomez, to the Spanish La Liga with Cadiz. It says that they are looking for an affordable option to replace the now departed Gomez and Ajeti could just be that man.

Celtic are ready to accept a really cut-price figure for the Swiss-Albanian attacker and it’s thought that exact number is to be just one tenth of his original purchase price when the Hoops brought him from West Ham United to Paradise. That is just £500,000 for a player they paid a whopping £5 million for and also expected great things from back in the summer transfer window of 2020.

His move to Sturm Graz in Austria didn’t garner enough interest for anyone to bite on a potential deal for the out of favour frontman and it’s a case of the Parkhead powerbrokers just wanting him off the books along with a couple of others who have reached the end of the road in a Celtic jersey. That list includes the likes of Ismaila Soro and James McCarthy who will both be on the lookout for other clubs this week.

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
