Training from Lennoxtown ahead of Flag Day, defensive injury cleared up

Celtic were training hard at Lennoxtown earlier today ahead of this weekend’s Premiership opener against Aberdeen. Despite the Flag Day festivities usually reserved for the first game of the season, Celtic will play on Sunday afternoon due to the broadcaster’s decision.

Ange Postecoglou will be hoping for a fast start and securing a comprehensive victory in the first game of the season. Last season saw the Australian take the Scottish game by storm, winning the League and League Cup playing exciting football.

Carl Starfelt was pictured training after the Swedish central defender was injured back in June. Starfelt will be Cameron Carter-Vickers’ partner when he is fit and able to return. Meanwhile, Moritz Jenz, who picked up a knock in training this week was pictured back in action as he looks to compete for minutes before Starfelt returns to action.

Yosuke Ideguchi will miss the game through injury. It is expected that the team that started the game against Norwich last weekend will be the same XI that the manager puts out against Jim Goodwin’s visitors from the North East.
