Transfer Latest – Celtic amongst a list of clubs tracking Algerian Ahmed Touba

Celtic is one of many club’s tracking Algerian centre-back Ahmed Touba, according to a report. Homme Du Match have listed the Hoops as one of the teams looking at the defender as the transfer window has just opened up. With Ange in the market for another central defender the links could be real, however, there seems to be some kind of confusion as to his correct position.

Plying his trade with RKC Waalwijk in the Eredivisie, Touba is quite versatile – being able to play centre-half, left back and left-wing, according to his profile. The player was raised in Belgium, but was born in France and decided to play for Algeria. Formerly of Club Brugge – the home of Scotland international and ex-Celt, Jack Hendry – the defender made 28 appearances for Waalwijk last season and managed to grab an assist along the way.

As of yet, the truth of this report has not yet been verified, so it is best to err on the side of caution. Although only 24, a full-time international and playing his football in a competitive league, it’s not difficult to see why his name might be on a list at Lennoxtown. There seems to be a lot of interest in the player though; the report states that Celtic are one of seven teams tracking the Algerian this summer. Angers and Olimpique Marseille of France are monitoring, as well as Benfica, Betis, Leverkusen and Sevilla.
