Transfer Latest – Danny Ings gets deadline day link to Celtic

As we patiently wait for signs of life at Celtic Park, the supporters are looking at this window with an increasing sense of disappointment…

It’s now the very last day and heading into the last hours of that day to be precise and yet there has been no white smoke from the chimney, to indicate that we have gotten the manager the reinforcements he needs and deserves after an excellent first part of the campaign.

Will Celtic replace Kyogo today as planned?

The lack of an action plan or signing ready to sign off on when Kyogo Furuhashi left us to join Rennes is very, very disconcerting. It was bad enough he was allowed to leave before the Aston Villa game, one in which had we had a full complement of attacking options to choose from, we could have perhaps come away with something from that game and earned ourselves an easier play-off round tie.

Instead the recurrent theme from Celtic transfer windows has emerged and we face a late dash to try and procure cover in key positions on the park.

Valle allowed to leave with no guarantee from Arsenal in place for KT

The choice to let Alex Valle go back to Barcelona and thereafter on to Como from his loan deal without first securing Kieran Tierney’s return this month too is inexplicable. Liam Scales has been primed for playing that role as deputy to Greg Taylor now and I think we’re all fearing the worst heading into the final few hours of this window now.

Likely be loan signings only today

The manager has admitted it will likely be loan deals at this point and it will most likely not be players who have a long-term future at Celtic Park. It’s frustrating because we’ve had he means and the time but yet we have refused to move quickly and with purpose in another transfer window. It could have been so much easier than this but we just can’t seem to get our business done in a timely fashion and allow players time to acclimitise.

West Ham’s Danny Ings now being mentioned

Danny Ings has now been mentioned by Scottish Sun as one we could potentially bring to Scotland ahead of that 11pm deadline tonight. The West Ham United striker hasn’t been a regular down the road for some time now and it has alerted other clubs to his possible availability during this month. It’s still not certain what the club will do but with time running out, one would imagine it will be temporary solutions to larger problems.

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
