Celtic are closely monitoring Sarpsborg winger Sondre Orjasaeter, according to a report in his homeland…
The 21 year-old left-sided wideman registered 28 appearances for the Norwegian outfit last season and is now attracting interest from a host of clubs across Europe.
Scoring on five occasions and setting up seven, Orjasaeter lit up the Eliteserien last campaign and became one of the most in-form prospects in the top-flight.
Celtic scouts watching
Now, courtesy of Norwegian sports outlet Nettavisen, Celtic scouts have been watching Ørjasæter’s form closely ahead of the January transfer window opening in two weeks time.
Sarpsborg finished ninth in the Eliteserien on 37 points, a long way away from challenging any European places but a comfortable distance from being relegation-threatened.
Stefan Johansen is a teammate
Orjasaeter is also teammates with two former Celtic players. Ex Hoops POTY Stefan Johansen is a regular starter for the mid-table Eliteserien club alongside Jo Inge Berget who spent a short period at the Scottish champions when arriving on loan from Cardiff City in 2014.
With Celtic short in options on their left-hand side of attack, Brendan Rodgers could make that a priority position in the coming weeks. Orjasaeter may be one of the players identified and with the Norwegian league season finished until April, this may be a possible transfer to keep an eye on.
