Trending? #lawwellout – these Celtic fans have had enough of Peter Lawwell

Celtic Supporters are taking to Twitter to register their feelings towards Chief Executive and de facto Director of Football Peter Lawwell, whose time at Celtic is surely done after his strategy once again failed to deliver Champions League football for the club.

The cost of this is around £30million in lost revenue to Celtic – money recouped last year after losing at the same stage to AEK Athens – through the sale of Moussa Dembele to Lyon. This time around it’s the £25million from left back Kieran Tierney’s transfer to Arsenal, that will cover the loss of the Champions League money.

Many will point the finger at Neil Lennon, who will be haunted by his team selection last night and his tactically and personnel calls during the game but he isn’t the real problem. This goes back to AEK under Rodgers and Malmo under Ronny and the one man that has cast a shadow over Celtic’s European ambitions is Peter Lawwell, Celtic’s highest ever non-playing employee of all time.

A man who paid himself a £2.3million bonus in January while bringing in a few loan players to see out the season. They left, as did star asset Tierney, and we went into a £30million match with no left back and £10million of summer signings on the bench, not trusted to play by the manager. And both Bolingoli and Jullien have hardly hit the ground running in a Celtic jersey.

High wage earner Scotty Sinclair didn’t travel to Romania last week and was not included in the squad last night as Lawwell wants him off the wage list. Get used to seeing Lewis Morgan folks.

It’s a complete shambles and it’s one of Peter Lawwell’s making. Here are some of the #lawwellout posts…
