Celtic have been given a 95% chance of progressing to the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League. The Scottish Champions were held to a 0-0 draw against Dinamo Zagreb in Croatia.
Celtic face Young Boys and Aston Villa in their remaining games in January. The Twitter/X account @fmeetsdata dates Celtic’s chances of progressing at 95%, behind only holders Real Madrid.
Clubs most likely to participate in the UCL KO playoff round (positions 9-24), as of 10 Dec:

92% 🇧🇪 Club Brugge
92% 🇵🇹 Sporting
87% 🇫🇷 Monaco
85% 🇵🇹 Benfica
85% 🇮🇹 Juventus
84% 🏴 Man City
83% 🇳🇱 PSV
75% 🇳🇱 Feyenoord

73% 🇮🇹 Atalanta…— Football Meets Data (@fmeetsdata) December 11, 2024
Curiously, there are a number of top clubs that are below Celtic in the list – including PSG, Man City, Atalanta and Atletico Madrid.
Despite the chances given, Celtic fans will feel anxious about their chances of progressing given the club’s history in European competition recently. The tepid draw in Zagreb will not have assisted this anxiety but Brendan will be keen to make progress in Europe and given the next game and the statistical chances, he and his team will be confident of putting YB to the sword and taking all three points.
Celtic have nine points and will hope to add to this with three points on Matchday Seven when Young Boys arrive at Celtic Park. The Swiss side have nothing to play for after the were eliminated in a 5-1 humbling against Stuttgart.
