UEFA have given the SPFL the green light to declare Celtic Scottish Champions sealing 9-in-a-row. The European governing body met today to discuss the future of the game and whilst they want top flight leagues to be completed – like Italy, Spain or England; they have confirmed that they would allow leagues to be called if Government guidelines and financial restrictions make finishing the league impossible.
This news has cleared the way for Celtic to be named Champions as earlier today, Nicola Sturgeon confirmed that it was a long time before football could be considered.

UEFA have ruled out voiding seasons – which had already been strongly hinted at – but have relaxed their calls to punish those that declare the league over – like Belgium. Holland have also confirmed this week that their league is likely to be over with Ajax to be named Champions.
Uefa rules out leagues voiding season due to #COVID19 but effectively gives SPFL green light to call season as is. Official letter from Uefa now needed but one step closer to premiership being abandoned as is.

UEFA say the Scottish Premiership can be ended if government rules or financial issues make playing on impossible. The governing body is still recommending seasons are played to a finish.

Scotland would certainly meet both criterion set by UEFA in order to finish the league as it stands with the Scottish Government stating that it will be a while until football returns as well as the SFA claiming it will be Autumn at the earliest.
Celtic sit 13 points ahead of Rangers and have been deserved champions. No one wanted to win the league like this but in unprecedented times, we have to make concessions amidst this pandemic.
