Rob Draper of the Daily Mail Sport has said that it will be very ‘unlikely’ if Rafa Benitez ends up at Celtic after leaving his role in China. The Spaniard has had success at a number of clubs and was one of the favourites to take over the managerial vacancy at Celtic Park back in May 2019. However, Celtic decided to appoint Neil Lennon after the interim boss clinched the Treble Treble following Brendan Rodgers’ departure.
Rafa Benitez v unlikely to end up at Celtic. Premier League still the most likely destination. But not Newcastle. The acrimony at the end was too great for reconciliation

Benitez is likely to want a Premier League club and would likely be waiting a job coming up in the next few months as the eyes a comeback to football. Celtic were linked the manager recently – with a number of bookies suspending odds on him arriving if Neil Lennon is to be replaced as manager.
Some obsessed fans of another club appeared to mock Celtic fans by creating a fake letter that appeared to suggest Benitez was on the verge of a return to management with the Quadruple Treble.
Benitez has won league titles in Spain, the Champions League and FA Cup with Liverpool as well as a number of other trophies. He would have been an ideal candidate but had he not had a hiatus in the money spinning Chinese league he may have been more willing to come to Celtic. With that said, the club offers a great opportunity to any top managers.
