Update on Celtic target Patrick Roberts as new manager takes a liking to the winger

It’s common to see Celtic being linked with former players who have lost their way a little bit, and it did look like a return to Parkhead could be ideal for Patrick Roberts.

He had a great time over three separate loan spells, and it seemed like playing for Celtic brought the best out of him.

He’s had various loan spells since that haven’t worked out well, and a recent report from Give Me Sport claimed that Celtic should be looking to sign him again.

He’s currently at Middlesbrough who are having an awful season, but it sounds like the arrival of Neil Warnock could be bad news for Celtic’s hopes.

A report from The Hartlepool Mail has looked at his future, and it appears Warnock is a massive fan. He compared him to wide players who were successful under him at Cardiff, and it appears that he wants to keep him on a permanent basis.

Warnock does admit that nothing will happen until the end of the season, but you have to think that he’s never getting into the Man City first team, and Middlesbrough may have the money to sign him.

Celtic’s need isn’t as urgent now that Mohamed Elyounoussi has signed for another season, so a return to Celtic Park now looks very unlikely for Roberts.
