It looks like further apathy and fury from the Hibs fans could deliver some good news for Celtic ahead of the Betfred Cup semi final at Hampden.
It always looked like Hibs were struggling to sell a decent amount of tickets for the game, they have been awful and few would bet against a heavy win for Celtic as they continue the march towards the quadruple treble.
A statement on the Hibs website confirmed that the SPFL had decided to cut the ticket allocation for Hibs due to poor sales. It seems that the Edinburgh side wanted to keep hold of a large number of tickets to ensure their fans got cheaper prices, but that will no longer by the case.
A story from the Edinburgh Evening News reported that Celtic have received a further allocation as a result. There’s no official numbers just now but it looks set to be a heavy split in favour of Celtic.
The reaction from Hibs fans is something to behold on Twitter too. It seems like the manager and those who run the club are getting the lions share of the criticism for causing this:
Utterly embarrassing

I hope Hibs are taking note of this. This is a sign of what’s coming if we keep with the current manager! Do the right thing Hibs we as fans deserve better. LD herself said when she came in she wanted to change us for the better, she did, but now we are going backwards very fast!

The writing is on the wall Hibs – poor turnout and we all know why but you sit there and let him continue. 1 league win in 14 = #heckyout

If that’s not a wake up call for yous then there’s something wrong

I’d be there if Heckinbotham had been sacked by now. I just cba.

It does seem like the only way Hibs have a chance in this game is if they get rid of Heckingbottom. They have a couple of games against Livi and Ross County before the semi, so some bad results could finally force the Hibs board into action.
From Celtic’s point of view, a bunch of disgruntled fans and a team playing horribly means this is almost a bye to the final. Hibs did get a draw in the recent league meeting, but that was largely down to some astonishing refereeing decisions.
