Utterly Gloriously Delicious – Craigan’s Consternation at Celtic’s Winner

Last night was utterly glorious in every respect. To win in that way, with more-or-less the last kick of the ball in those circumstances, was mind blowing by all accounts. The gust of energy and euphoria that emanated from the Celtic support last night after the winner got a bit over exuberant for some.

Stephen Craigan is a chap that rarely enjoys Celtic winning, but last night it was obvious the manner in which we snatched the three points from the edge of losing more ground in the title race was just too much for the ex-Motherwell player to take. His commentary on the scenes after Tony Ralston scored that bullet header was delightful to hear.

15th December 2021; Victoria Park, Dingwall, Scotland, Scottish Premier league football, Ross County versus Celtic; Callum McGregor of Celtic gestures to the fans on the park to leave so the game can restart

Not that we’ve come to expect anything less mind you, as the media in Scotland are fervently in favour of one team and always have been for over 100 years. No, it was not a surprise but it sure was delightful to listen to him try and find a way to paint Celtic’s crucial winner in a negative light.

The silence before he can bring himself to say anything is telling. His disgust must have overridden every fibre of his being when that ball bit the net. The silence was only broken to complain about the Celtic fans going wild with the players over at the side of the goal in which Ralston had just scored into to win the game.

Have a listen to the pundit try and hold back his consternation at that Ralston winner…

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.

  1. Watched the game on RCTV last night. The guy commentating was excellent.Praised Celtic throughout and miles better than Crocker and Walker.Craigan on the other hand couldn’t hide his delight at County’s goal and desperately called for Starfelt to be sent off.He was sick at the end while the other guy kept the head and stayed professional so well done to him.Craigan? You can’t even hide it….you bitter, bitter guy….
