VAR operator Willie Collum called out for shocking no-penalty decision

Would Willie Collum in the VAR hut have awarded a penalty had a Celtic player handled the ball like Goldson?” asks Chris Sutton…I think we all know the answer to that one.

Post match reaction from Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou, the skipper Callum McGregor and former Celtic striker Chris Sutton who makes a brilliant point about Willie Collum who was on VAR duties today and bottled the easiest possible decision which would have given Celtic a penalty kick…

“It was a great game of football. Cracking, and both teams were at it today in a proper derby. We started well and lost control – it was self inflected because of our passing and allowed them to get a momentum with the crowd before them.

“They took a foothold in the first 20 minutes of the second half but we showed resilience and we’ve done that all year,” Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou on Sky Sports after the 2-2 draw at Ibrox that maintains Celtic’s 9 points advantage at the top of the league, looking down on theRangers

“For the first 25 minutes we started well and got the early goal. You could see the atmosphere in the place and we were dominating the game but then we let them back in with something slack. When you do that against a decent team then you’re giving them a chance.

“We don’t start the second half well and performance levels weren’t at our best to come out of here with a point after that we are delighted.

“It was just slackness that crept into the game. We started the game really well, and were playing really well and would expect when we get comfort to go on and maximise that but we didn’t. But credit to the lads again, their character, 2-1 down here with 6/7 minutes to go and you get yourself a draw which is a big result. We know weren’t at our best but we’ll take it,” Celtic captain Callum McGregor on Sky Sports after the 2-2 draw at Ibrox that maintains Celtic’s 9 points advantage at the top of the league, looking down on theRangers

“Celtic got away with that. Cameron Carter-Vickers was immense. Too many players way off it. Mooy excellent when he came on. Juranovic would have struggled to impresss any watching scouts… would Willie Collum in the VAR hut have awarded a penalty had a Celtic player handled the ball like Goldson?” Chris Sutton on Twitter after the 2-2 draw at Ibrox that maintains Celtic’s 9 points advantage at the top of the league, looking down on theRangers

And it’s first day back for Celtic’s former CEO Peter Lawwell who is now the Celtic Chairman…

Goldsons arms are by his side, says Andy Walker. I assume Andy failed biology at school

  2. He failed a lot more than Biology at school.
Goldson saved it like a goalie – with BOTH hands. If you slow the video down it is so clear.
Fair play to Mr Beaton who had a decent game today, despite Collum trying desperately to referee the gam for him.

  3. None of us can be surprised that var gave us nothing today especially with collum observing the monitors but at least we got a decent draw and although we never played well we had many pluses especially in Alistair Johnson’s performance and we go on and beat kilmarnock next Saturday and continue the season the way with our new motto We never stop. HH

  4. Team and Ange not at their best today.
    Good debut byJohddnston.
Mooys steadied the ship and should have started.
Strange left back substitution. Could have cost us the game.
    League Hoops to loose.
    Hail Hail

  5. Re the last photo – what is Alistair Johnston doing still creeping around Ibrox ? Is he the one trying to rustle American money to keep their show on the road ? Given how well he did last time he was in the Ayebrokes hot seat, you have to hope son 😀
